Every movie comes with promos and sometimes, especially when it is combined with huge star cast and good technical crew, it triggers excitement among the fans. Sometimes, the excitement level reaches too high and the audience goes with very high expectations to the movie and the movie ends up utterly failing to their expectations.
As popular South Indian actress Trisha has pointed out that right promo could prove success for a movie. The actress who has ventured into Bollywood has passed this comment. The comment, though, is appreciable as sometimes, the crew of the movie goes hush about the storyline of the movie. This creates anticipation and formation of their own stories among the fans.
One such movie that failed the audience expectations is 'Raavanan'. Many are not sure what the director Mani Ratnam wanted to say. It was not sure whether the director meant the original story of Ramayana or he just wanted the flavor of the great epic. This movie was taken for so long with great hype. It also released simultaneously in three different languages with different star cast and yet the audience failed to see some good aspects of the movie.
There is a movie though that many people had high expectations and still it exceeded. Yes, it happened for me as well. I went on to the movie with high expectations and I simply loved it. And yes, I am talking about the much talked about movie in the recent past - Inception. Christopher Nolan knew exactly how to market the movie. He did not reveal too much in the teaser trailer released in December. One was made to wonder what the story is. Two months later, the first trailer was released and audience had a little clue about the movie. Already the movie started to tingle some senses in the audience. Next the ultimate trailer came which gave complete clue about the movie. Is that how a successful movie marketing is done? Slowly feeding the story of the movie was the best way to keep the audience interested and the fast paced storyline did wonders. More about the movie later in review.
